Adding a partner to a 482 visa.
If your partner holds a subclass 482 – Skills in Demand visa, you may be able to be added to their visa as a secondary (dependent) applicant.
As the partner of a 482 visa holder, you must:
Be their spouse or de facto partner
Demonstrate a genuine and ongoing relationship
Meet all relevant criteria, including health, character, and financial capacity to support yourself in Australia
You can be inside or outside Australia at the time of applying for the visa.
If granted, you’ll receive a dependent 482 visa with the same expiry date as your partner’s. This visa allows you to live, work and study in Australia with full work rights.
Note: If your partner did not declare your relationship in their original 482 application, adding you later can be more complex. We will need to assess your relationship timeline, milestones and evidence to advise.
